It also seems unlikely to me that social drinking is less responsible than solo-drinking. I think a look at people with drinking problems would reveal the opposite.Flagon of Alehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03961940368880824313noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3076725205410370436.post-32766263372098012572011-01-05T11:29:59.662+00:002011-01-05T11:29:59.662+00:00Nowt wrong with drinking on your own — you can get...Nowt wrong with drinking on your own — you can get on with your newspaper/book/novel in peace, watch people, etc etc, I love the whole codified structure of one’s presence in the pub, a paper or book in hand with a determination to read says go away, while being held slightly airily could mean I might be up for a conversation if the company is right (ie not tight). Then there’s the body language — slumping over a drink at the bar is a Marshall amp turned to 10 — I’m a lush — while being asleep at the end of the bar (this is a regular occurrence amongst some of the types who tread their way through the doors of one of our town pubs) is pure Spinal Tap.Adrian Tierney-Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05421802854011395300noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3076725205410370436.post-86362421760225994722011-01-05T10:09:54.740+00:002011-01-05T10:09:54.740+00:00Maybe as someone who has been known to drink on hi...Maybe as someone who has been known to drink on his own on occasion (and enjoy it, I felt a little over sensitive!Tandlemanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06804499573827044693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3076725205410370436.post-63202468410966683072011-01-05T08:58:59.467+00:002011-01-05T08:58:59.467+00:00Hearty — tongue in cheek at the bar no doubt

And I always will fear him, as long as he remains there, drooped, with the Smooth under his chin, propping up his dreams like a old, dry broom...

Can't we just ban him?

Surely anything can be outlawed.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17852488639948144328noreply@blogger.com
