Why drink this beer?
Because I’m on a train going home.
Why drink this beer?
Because I had five minutes at Birmingham New Street and it was easy to grab.
Why drink this beer?
Because it was cheap and cold and I could get three of them.
Why drink this beer?
Because sometimes I’m just looking for a beer and this one is much better on my palate than Carling or Carlsberg.
Why drink this beer?
I don’t really know, I keep getting sweetcorn DMS notes in the middle of the mouth and I’ve just noticed a sickliness in the flavour that reminds me of Tiny Tim hobbling along on his crutches.
Why drink this beer?
Because it’s cold and wet and carbonated and slightly sweet and has the ghost of bitterness somewhere in the flavour.
Would you drink this beer again?
Probably.
Where would you drink this beer again?
On a train.
Some of the luddites in CAMRA will not be impressed. ššŗ
ReplyDeleteI'd be interested to know where (or how) your books are available. These days, alas, for health reasons I'm only able to drink non-alcoholic beers but at least in my homeland - the Czech Republic, a nation of stalwart beer drinkers especially on Friday night - there are several delicious varieties that are readily available :).
ReplyDeleteContent, delivery and tone all spot on as usual.
ReplyDeleteWe all have our wants and ultimates in life but when it comes to beer, I don't think there is anything wrong with answering to the question posed in the title, "Because there isn't any other available, or another as good at the same price".
ReplyDeleteIt seems in the nature of alcoholic drink to state it this way - when one wants a drink that is.
When one can take or leave a drink, it's different though.
